1:72 M10 Tank Destroyer - 3-inch M7 (76.2 mm) gun barrel is a precisely machined barrel for a model of the American tank destroyer.
Responsibility details are not available.
A machined metal part for a model in 1:72 scale. It swaps the plastic tube for a component with a true circular section and an open muzzle, which on a production molding always looks blanked off. According to the name the gun is the 3-inch M7, that is a caliber of 76.2 mm.
It was a tank destroyer built on the Sherman chassis, with thin sloped armor and an open pentagonal turret whose rear was balanced by heavy counterweights. The gun was derived from an anti-aircraft piece and in 1943 was still a match for most of the German vehicles the Allies met. Doctrine assumed the machines would gather and catch the enemy with concentrated fire from the flank. The British rearmed some of them and gave them the name Achilles.
First shorten the plastic barrel at the cradle and open the hole up with a pin vise to suit the pin. Set the metal so that the muzzle points exactly horizontally, otherwise the result will look crooked when seen head-on. A light military green shows well on metal if you lay down a primer first and darken the area around the muzzle gently.
The box holds only this part; the chassis and the turret are obtained separately.
