A plaque 25 mm in size with the badge of the grenadier division the name designates as the 1st Galician. It is not a kit nor a part of one: it is a diorama accessory, that is a label for marking a finished scene, the base of a figure or a shelf in a display case. Collectors use it to bring the labels of a whole collection into line, because in this range Dynamo-Models offers the badges of dozens of units in two sizes.
The division was raised in 1943 from volunteers from Galicia, that is from the area of present-day western Ukraine and southeastern Poland. It was committed for the first time in the summer of 1944 at Brody, where it was encircled and suffered heavy losses. After being filled up it operated in Slovakia and in Slovenia and spent the end of the war in the area of present-day Austria, where it surrendered to the Western Allies. Its official designation changed during 1944, so in the literature it appears under several names at once.
A badge with a heraldic motif calls for careful separation of the areas, so apply the colors thinly and layer them. Clean up the transitions with a thin brush only once they have dried, not while wet. Settle the plaque on the axis of the base and check that the edge is not rounded by varnish, otherwise the label will not sit flat. Do the final lightening of the hollows at the very end.
