1:48 F2G-1/2 Super Corsair canopy airbrush mask are pre-cut masks for the cockpit glazing of both the racing and the military version of the Super Corsair. Target kit: Special Hobby.
Responsibility details are not available.
The die-cut masks from MH models cover the glazing of the Super Corsair model in the F2G-1 and F2G-2 versions. They serve to make the cockpit frame come out sharp and to leave the glass free of paint residue. The set is intended for the Special Hobby kit.
The Super Corsair came about by rebuilding a carrier fighter onto an airframe with a massive radial engine of four rows of cylinders. It barely managed a military career, but it made its name after the war at air races, where in civilian colors it was among the fastest machines of its class. It is precisely that reputation that makes the model a rewarding subject, because on the heightened racing schemes the cockpit tends to be surrounded by garish colors and an imprecise transition on the frame would catch the eye at once.
First wash the glazing carefully and let it dry completely. Lift the individual parts off the sheet with tweezers and lay them from the center toward the edges; pressing them down with a blunt tool ensures that the paint does not creep under. It pays to spray the shade of the frame interior first and only then the exterior camouflage or the glossy racing finish. Cover any remaining exposed areas with a piece of tape or with masking fluid. Remove the masks as soon as possible after spraying and the edges will stay cleaner.
The set contains only the masking sheet; the kit is sold separately.
