A braided metal cable for replacing plastic tow cables on models of armored vehicles in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A tow cable is part of the equipment of almost every combat vehicle. It is carried coiled on the sides of the hull or on the turret and serves to recover a bogged machine. A kit usually deals with it by means of a plastic casting which has a visible mold parting line, cannot be bent and breaks at every attempt to shape it. That is exactly why modelers reach for a real braided cable in metal.
It is supplied as a measured length of braided wire with the density of the braid matching 1:35 scale. The material can be coiled into a curve, threaded through mounts and left to hang freely the way the original would behave. Once degreased it takes paint and weathering, so the result does not look like a shiny wire but like worn steel.
Before cutting, bind the place of the cut with a drop of super glue or with a thin thread. That prevents the ends unraveling, which otherwise happens at once and makes the cable useless. Shape the bends gradually over a rounded object rather than with a sharp break over an edge.
Attach the finished cable to the vehicle only after the hull has been painted, otherwise it is hard to spray under the coils and bare plastic will be left in the deeper places. Spot fixing is enough rather than over the whole seating area.
The remaining piece will suit another vehicle or the equipment of a diorama.
