A small metal chain with a fine link for models of armored vehicles in 1:48 and 1:72 scale, intended as a tow chain and as an accessory to the equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
Armored vehicles carry towing gear with them, because getting stuck in mud or in a ditch is more common than being hit. Chains and cables are therefore hung on the real vehicles on the fenders, on the hull and on the sides of the turret, wound around hooks and used to secure a load. On a model it is precisely this equipment that sets it apart from a bare kit: it breaks up the smooth areas, casts a shadow and gives the vehicle a lived-in look. A plastic imitation of a chain from a kit cannot do that, because it has a stiff shape and the links are joined.
The package holds a metal chain with a link matching the small scales, that is 1:48 and 1:72. Metal has two advantages over plastic: the individual links are really open, so you can see through between them, and the chain falls under its own weight. You therefore do not have to fake the sag; the chain makes it itself. The enclosed description of the package gives the length of the piece supplied.
Shorten the chain to the length needed with nippers rather than with scissors, which would deform the link. Degrease it before painting, because paint does not hold on greasy metal, and use a primer intended for metal. Attach it to the model with super glue applied at the ends, and leave the chain free in the middle so that it keeps its natural sag. At the end it helps to bring out the links with a dry brush.
For builders of armored vehicles in the small scales and for diorama makers. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
