1:48 Mil Mi-24 Canopy, Windows And Wheels Paint Mask Set For Zvezda 4823, 4812 - Interior And Exterior

The real subject

The Mi-24 is a Soviet attack helicopter that combined attack armament with room for troops in the rear part of the fuselage, which is exceptional among attack helicopters. It carries stub wings with pylons, has retractable wheeled landing gear and glazing divided into several separate parts: the cover of the front cockpit, the cover of the pilot's cockpit set behind it and higher, and the side windows of the rear compartment. There are thus more frames around the glazing on the model than on an ordinary helicopter, and spraying them cleanly is among the most laborious parts of the build.

What the set contains

The set contains masks for the canopy, for the side windows and for the wheels in 1:48 scale. They are cut for the Zvezda kits with the part numbers 4823 and 4812 and include elements for the inner as well as the outer side of the glazing. A masked inner side matters so that the frames can be painted in the interior shade from inside and in the camouflage shade from outside, as the real machine has it.

Building and painting tips

Stick the inner masks on and paint the glazing before you seat it in the fuselage. Only then come the outer masking and the camouflage. Press the edges of the masks down and apply the paint lightly, so that it does not run under the edge. Take the masks off as soon as the paint has set, pulling them slowly back over themselves. The masks for the wheels separate the tire from the hub, so the boundary between them does not have to be retouched with a brush.

Who it is for

For builders of helicopters in 1:48 scale who want their cockpit frames sharp on both sides. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
