The Sukhoi Su-25 is a Soviet ground-attack aircraft intended to support ground units. It builds on what matters in a machine that flies low: an armored cockpit, a straight wing with plenty of pylons and the ability to operate from unpaved surfaces. The Su-25UB version is the two-seat trainer modification with a raised rear seat and a lengthened forward fuselage; under the NATO code name it carries the designation Frogfoot B.
The masks cover the three places where masking by hand is hardest: the glazing of the long two-seat cockpit, the wheels and the lights. The parts for the canopy follow the shape of the frames, so the frame stays sharply bounded and the glass clean. The masks for the wheels separate the hub from the tire and the masks for the lights protect the transparent covers while the surrounding area is sprayed. In 1:32 scale every imprecision of an edge is clearly visible, so a precise cut is worth it. The scope of the sheet and the placement of the individual parts are described in the manufacturer's instructions.
Wash and degrease the transparent parts first, otherwise the mask will not adhere. Apply it before spraying, press the edges of the frames down with a toothpick and lay the paint on in several thin coats. On the wheels let the tire cure and only then spray the hub. Take the masks off while fresh and pull them at an angle to the rear, not perpendicular to the surface.
The set suits anyone who is building a large model of the Su-25UB and does not want to cut the frames out of tape. The package contains the masks; the paints, the glue and the kit are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
