What kind of accessory this is

A braided metal cable replaces the tow cable that a kit usually offers as a stiff plastic part. According to the name it is usable on models of armored equipment in two scales, that is 1:48 and 1:35, so a single package covers equipment in two sizes, which suits anyone who moves between scales or builds dioramas with vehicles from both.

How a metal cable is different

The difference shows above all in the way the cable lies. Metal gives way and stays in the position you bend it into, so a real sag forms between the mountings. The surface has the weave of braided strands that a plastic part only suggests. This texture pays off in the finishing: a dark wash stays in the hollows between the strands and a light pass with a metallic shade brings the edges out, so the cable looks heavy.

Usage tips

• Soak the end of the cable with cyanoacrylate before cutting, otherwise it unravels.
• It is shortened with nippers, not with a blade.
• In the larger scale measure off a longer piece, as the consumption differs noticeably between 1:35 and 1:48.
• Try the run and the sag dry, and only then fix the ends.
• Degrease the cable before painting, as paint does not hold on greasy metal.
