Paint masks for the British disruptive camouflage in the variant designated Type A for Supermarine Spitfire models in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Supermarine Spitfire is a British single-seat fighter and the best known British combat machine of the Second World War. Characteristic of it are the elliptical wing with rounded tips, the slender fuselage and the low-set cockpit. The type went through a series of versions during the war that differed in the wing, the armament and the shape of the tail surfaces, but the basic silhouette stayed recognizable throughout. On the upper surfaces British fighters wore a broken-up two-color camouflage divided into large irregular fields.
The masks cover the areas of this disruptive camouflage in the variant given under the designation Type A. British specifications described the pattern in two mutually mirror-reversed forms and the designation A refers to one of them. The cut holds the shape of the fields exactly and the same on both wings, which is hard to hit freehand. The exact scope of the sheet, the placement of the parts and the recommended order of the shades are described in the manufacturer's instructions.
First spray the lighter shade and let it cure properly. Only then stick the masks on, press the edges down with a toothpick and apply the second shade in several thin coats. Take the masks off while the finish is fresh and pull them at an angle to the rear, so that the edge of the paint does not come away with them.
The set suits modelers who want the pattern symmetrical on both halves of the model and the edges sharp. The package contains the masks; the paints, the glue and the kit are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
