A white acrylic primer from Lifecolor in a 100 ml package, which evens out the base under a top color and brings out surface faults before painting.

A primer is the first layer that goes onto a finished and cleaned model. It holds on plastic, resin and metal better than a top color on its own and gives all these materials the same base, so that the final shade ends up looking the same on them. Its second service is a check: in a uniform white area a sanding mark, an unfilled seam or a fingerprint shows at once, that is the faults that are easily overlooked on multicolored plastic and are hard to put right once the paint is on.
A white base suits light and saturated colors most. Yellow, orange and red cover weakly and look muddy over a gray or dark base; over white they brighten and fewer coats are needed. A light base also suits anywhere the surface is later to be only gently shaded and where a dark base would knock the final brightness down. A package with a volume of 100 ml will do for a long run of models.
Wash the surface before applying it, degrease it and let it dry thoroughly. Apply the primer in thin coats, so that it does not drown the fine texture of the surface, and let it dry between coats. The aim is not a coat that covers to saturation but an even thin film. The recommended thinning, the ratio and the method of application are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
For modelers who want a light, dependable base under their paint, and especially for builds where plastic meets resin or metal. The model, paints and thinner are not included in the box, unless stated otherwise.
