The Lancer Evolution III was the third generation of the legendary Mitsubishi rally family, with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive. In its day it was among the leaders of the World Rally Championship. The Safari Rally was famous for extremely demanding terrain, dust, mud and long special stages along African roads — which is exactly why the cars received massive animal guards and strengthened suspension. The version captured in this kit won the 1996 event with Tommi Mäkinen at the wheel, and the set also offers the markings of the car that finished sixth.
Smooth the body and spray it with an airbrush; the white plastic makes covering the colored livery easier. Clean the metal animal guards up and bond them with super glue, because an ordinary cement for plastic will not join metal. Apply a gloss coat before the sponsor decals, fix the decals with a decal softener and unify the surface with a final coat. Assemble and paint the interior with its roll cage and seats before closing the body up. For an authentic post-race look you can add fine deposits of dust and mud with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
