An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier fighter Grumman F-14B Tomcat in 1:48 scale from the manufacturer Great Wall Hobby, in the strike configuration nicknamed Bombcat. The recently developed mold offers a detailed cockpit, a richly subdivided surface and movable variable-geometry wings. The kit captures the machine with bomb armament and a targeting pod, that is, in the form adapted for attacks on ground targets. Check the exact package contents and the number of decal schemes against the enclosed instructions.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier fighter of the US Navy with variable-sweep wings. The F-14B version received more powerful engines and later in its career took over strike duties as well — with guided bombs and a targeting pod it served as the Bombcat for precise strikes against ground targets. In this role it flew with a number of Navy squadrons at the turn of the millennium.
Bond the parts with thin cement for plastic and sand the joints carefully. If you want to keep the wings movable, do not glue the pivot mechanisms. Paint the cockpit interior before closing the fuselage, and assemble and paint the underwing stores separately. After the gloss coat and the decals, bring the panel lines out with a wash and add the wear typical of carrier operations.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
