VARIABLE FIGHTER GIRLS MACROSS DELTA WALKURE KANAME BUCCANEER

A singer and combat armor in one box

The Variable Fighter Girls range brings together two worlds that at first glance have nothing to do with each other: the figure of a girl and armor derived from the transformable fighters of the Macross universe. What comes out of it is a kit with movable joints in which the builder chooses for himself whether to finish it in a lightened civilian form or, on the contrary, fully armored.

Who Kaname Buccaneer is

The character comes from the series Macross Delta and belongs to the singing group Walkure. In the story that group does not appear as an ordinary band: the effect of its songs reaches directly into combat, and a performance accompanied by a flight of fighters is part of the tactics. Kaname is the most experienced of the members and has also been through pilot training, so she stands exactly on the border between the stage and the cockpit.

No scale, but uniform proportions

The set has no conventional modeling scale. It follows the proportions of the whole range, so that figures standing side by side match each other in size and match the shared accessories.

How to approach the build

The parts tend to be divided by color, so it can be built even without painting. It does pay, though, to clean up the marks from the sprue gates and to true up the edges, because on glossy armor every burr is visible at first glance. The joints will take a slight tightening, and if the finished figure will not hold a pose, a thin layer of clear varnish applied to the pin helps. A matte varnish also unifies the surface of parts molded from plastics of slightly different shades.

Where the set belongs

The range keeps growing with further members, so the finished pieces make the most sense in a group, where the difference in the color pitch of the individual suits of armor stands out.
