PMX-002 BOLINOAK-SAMMAHN

The real subject

The PMX-002 Bolinoak Sammahn is a mobile suit from the setting of the series Zeta Gundam. It belongs to the line designated PMX, that is among the prototypes which in the story did not come about as production armament but as individual machines built to the ideas of a single designer. Among the other mobile suits you will recognize it by the conspicuous sensor projections running up from the head, which give it a silhouette no other machine of the time has.

What awaits you in the build

The model is made up of parts which are gradually joined into a whole. A mobile suit is an articulated figure, so the result does not rest on the shape alone: much depends on how cleanly the parts can be cleared of remnants after separation and how precisely the sections meet in places where the joint opens as it moves. That is exactly why it pays to try the assembly dry beforehand with these models.

Building and painting tips

• Separate the parts with nippers a little way from the part and level the remainder with a sharp blade.
• Apply the paint in thin coats, as a heavy coat fills the definition of the panels and increases the play in the joints.
• A dark wash in the recesses and edge highlighting liven up the large smooth areas of the torso and legs.
• Protect the joints while painting, as paint in a joint rubs off and leaves light patches behind.
• The exact assembly procedure follows the manufacturer's instructions.
