A decal set in 1:48 scale devoted to the captured Vickers Wellington Mk.IV bomber with the serial number Z1277, the first part of the series.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Vickers Wellington is a British twin-engined bomber of the Second World War, known among crews by the nickname Wimpy. It became famous for an unusual framework of criss-crossing members designed by Barnes Wallis: the covering was fabric stretched over this net, so the machine survived hits after which a hole was left in its side and the aircraft still made it home. The Mk.IV rendition is one of the production versions in a long line. The set aims at the machine with the serial number Z1277, that is at an aircraft which fell into enemy hands and went on flying under foreign markings.
It is a sheet of decals for a model in 1:48 scale, focused on one particular machine. Captured aircraft are among the rewarding subjects precisely because they join the original shape of the airframe with unusual markings, and a finished model thus explains the whole story without a single word. The designation of the first part in the name places the set at the start of a longer series devoted to the same theme.
Varnish the surface under the decals with a gloss coat; on a matte surface a white cloudiness appears under the film. Cut the decal out close to the motif, soak it in lukewarm water and let it rest on the paper until it releases. Move it onto the model and add decal softener, so the film settles into the rivets and seams. Draw the excess water off with a cloth and let the joint dry undisturbed. Finally varnish everything with a matte coat, which hides the edges of the film.
For builders of British bombers in 1:48 scale and for collectors of unusual color schemes. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
