A gun that came apart onto the backs of mules

The mountain gun model 15 came out of the Skoda works in Pilsen while still under Austria-Hungary and belongs among the most successful artillery designs of its day. The task was demanding: the weapon had to have sufficient effect and at the same time come apart into pieces that pack animals could carry along mountain paths without roads. After Czechoslovakia came into being, the gun stayed in the armament of the new army and served with mountain and cavalry units. In the Second World War a number of armies on both sides of the front then deployed it in various modifications.

The publication follows the weapon from its origin through its combat deployment to the fate of the individual examples. Attention goes to the design, the crew, the transport in mountain terrain and to the appearance and color finish. It is exactly such material that is most valuable for modelers and researchers, because it is found only with difficulty in ordinary literature.

The volume carries the sequence number nine in its name, which follows on from the previous part about the military cars of the Tatra marque. The series is written in Czech and concentrates on armament and equipment connected with the Czechoslovak setting.
