A set of replacement tracks for a 1:72 model of the Soviet fast tank BT-7 in the 1935 version. An addition to a kit; the tank itself is not in the box.
Responsibility details are not available.
The fast tank from the Kharkov works was one of the most interesting designs of the 1930s. Thanks to its adopted American suspension with large wheels, it could run on the road on its wheels once the tracks were taken off, and at a speed the armored vehicles of the day could not match. The tracks were meanwhile carried stowed on the fenders, so both forms can be shown on a model.
Why replace them. In 1:72 the tracks from an ordinary kit tend to be either soft and inaccurate in shape, or split into parts with seams on the inner side. The replacement set deals above all with the rendering of the individual links and with a faithful sag between the rollers, which is exactly what one notices on a finished model before the armament.
Which version. The year in the name refers to the older production form with the cylindrical turret. The brand offers a separate set in the same scale for the later variant as well, and another for the predecessor of this family, so it is good to choose according to which machine you have on the bench.
The procedure. The parts are carefully freed, washed and tried dry on the wheels before gluing. The steel surface of the tracks looks best as a dark base rounded off with a dry brush along the edges and with dust on the lower part. The box holds only the tracks, not the tank or the paints. On a model from field conditions it pays to tell the shiny running face, polished to bare metal by the ground, from the rest clogged with mud.
