The middle value of the grid: 0.9 mm across the faces of the head, with a washer of increased diameter. A versatile size for the frame and engine joints of a motorcycle model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Nine tenths of a millimeter is the dimension you will reach for most often on a motorcycle model. It is not so small that it disappears, and not so hefty that it overrides the shapes around it. The head has a low profile and six crisp faces, and the washer under it is wide and visibly overhangs the outline of the head.
A modeler usually gets hold of the kit first, then the paints and only at the end the small metal items. Yet those are fitted last, so it pays to have them in stock before the model is closed up. A machine in progress does not get taken apart again for the sake of a single joint.
On a finished model this dimension comes into its own on the mounting of the seat, on the flanges of the exhaust header, on the cam covers and on the joints of the swingarm. The crisp faces reflect light differently from the paint around them, and that is exactly what makes the difference between a molded surface and a build somebody took trouble over.
Anyone who builds in series will appreciate one more thing: a single package is enough even for several machines in progress at once, so there is no need to order again for every project.
