A wooden deck sheet in 1:700 scale for a model of the battleship Jean Bart in her 1955 state, intended for the Trumpeter 05752 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Jean Bart is a French battleship that could not be finished before the Second World War and that was completed only in the postwar years. The year given in the name refers to the form in which the ship served in the 1950s. A model of a large surface ship has an extensive open deck, and that tends to be the place where the standard of a build shows sooner than on any other detail.
A replacement for the deck areas that in a kit are rendered in uniform plastic. The thin veneer is divided into strips that imitate the individual planks, and the shadow in the gaps arises directly from the material rather than from paint. The sheet is cut for 1:700 scale and for the Trumpeter kit with the number 05752, so the cutouts for the superstructures and the turrets match the layout on that model.
Clean the plastic deck and sand it flat, as veneer follows the surface and any unevenness under it will stay visible. Lay the sheet on dry first and check the position of all the cutouts. Whether the underside has an adhesive layer is given in the manufacturer's instructions; if not, use a glue suitable for wood, apply it in a thin even coat and press the sheet down from the center toward the edges. Deal with the edges at the sides of the ship last and trim the excess with a sharp blade.
The ship model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. What exactly the package contains is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
