An injection-molded plastic model of the German heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper as she was in 1941, in 1:700 scale from the brand Trumpeter. According to the parts supplied, the hull can be built either as a full hull with a stand or in the waterline version. The package holds plastic sprues with finely engraved decks and decal sheets. The exact number of parts and of the marking schemes is given by the instruction sheet in the package.
Admiral Hipper was the lead ship of the class of the same name of German heavy cruisers of the Kriegsmarine, carrying a main caliber of 203 mm in gun turrets. As a sister ship of Prinz Eugen she represented a large, modern cruiser with high speed and an extensive superstructure. During the Second World War she operated among other places in the Atlantic and in northern waters, where she took part in actions against Allied convoys. She belonged among the most important German cruisers of the period.
Decide in advance between the full hull and the waterline version — the waterline stands out on a water base, the full hull on the stand supplied. Glue the small parts of the superstructure, the turrets and the masts with a thin modeling cement for plastic. Added realism comes from photo-etched railings and aerials (they are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise). Apply a primer, spray the color in thin coats with an airbrush and accent the recesses and the decks with dark washes.
