Eduard 1:700 German WWII ensign flags STEEL is a set of color pre-printed steel photo-etched parts with period German naval ensigns for ship models.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard with period German naval ensigns of the Second World War period in 1:700 scale. It is not a model but an addition for ship models. The parts are photo-etched from steel and pre-printed in color on both sides, so the flag looks right from either view, which neither a paper nor a decal substitute can manage.
A flag on a mast is a small thing with a large effect on a ship model: it gives a static model a sense of movement and makes the allegiance of the vessel clear. Steel photo-etch is the key precisely because it keeps its shape once formed. The flag can be rippled as though the wind were filling it, and the material does not spring back. In 1:700 scale the part is very thin, so it does not look like a sheet of tin.
Separate the part with a sharp knife on a hard surface and handle it with tweezers. Shape it gradually over a round tool or between your fingers over a soft pad, and make sharp creases only where cloth would really fold. Glue with a minimum of cyanoacrylate, as any excess would cloud the printing. Attach the flag only to a finished and painted model, so that it is not bent during further handling. Do not spray the printed surface with solvent-based paints or aggressive varnishes, as the printing would be lost.
The set holds only the photo-etched parts. A model of the ship, glue and paints are not included in the package.
