This is NOT a single aircraft model but a detailed set of many tiny carrier aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1:700 scale from Tamiya. The set serves to populate the flight decks of carriers and the decks of other warships in the Waterline model range. It contains a good number of miniature aircraft of the early Pacific War and matching decals. Because the parts are so tiny, the work calls for a steady hand.
In the early Pacific War the striking power of the Imperial Japanese Navy rested on carrier fighters, torpedo bombers and dive bombers. Those are the types the set represents as tiny aircraft that complete the authentic look of a carrier deck or a hangar area. In 1:700 scale they are the typical accessories without which a model of a large warship looks empty.
Separate the small parts from the sprue with a sharp knife over a surface so that they are not lost. Given their size, painting with a fine-tipped brush or an airbrush at low pressure works well. Glue the aircraft to the deck only once they are painted. It is enough to suggest the wings and tail surfaces in color, as excessive detail is lost at 1:700. A light wash will bring out the outlines of the aircraft against the deck.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a ship model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
