Flyhawk 1:700 metal gun barrels for the Leander-class cruisers replace the plastic barrels of the main armament.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for ship modelers in 1:700 scale from the Flyhawk brand. The set contains turned metal gun barrels for models of the British light cruisers of the Leander class. A metal barrel has the correct profile and needs no cleaning up of a parting line, which on thin plastic parts easily wipes away the shape of the muzzle as well. The ship kit is not included in the package. A metal barrel also stands up to handling during further painting, whereas a thin plastic part bends or breaks off.
The Leander-class cruisers were built in the first half of the 1930s as light cruisers with eight 152 millimeter guns in four twin turrets. Their distinguishing feature was a single broad funnel, which gave the ships an unmistakable silhouette. They served with the Royal Navy and with the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal New Zealand Navy, and one of them, Achilles, took part in the Battle of the River Plate against the Admiral Graf Spee.
The set is intended for modelers building a ship model with an emphasis on detail. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
