Fujimi Premium Option Parts — IJN Kitakami, 1:700 is a set of photo-etched add-ons for the model of the Japanese torpedo cruiser Kitakami that markedly refines the detail of the whole build.

A set of add-on photo-etched parts from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi in 1:700 scale, intended for the model of the cruiser Kitakami. This is not a standalone ship model — the photo-etched parts replace the thicker plastic parts of the kit with fine metal ones and take the model to a level that cannot be reached in injection-molded plastic.
Kitakami was a Kuma-class light cruiser that became known for her conversion into a torpedo cruiser with exceptionally heavy torpedo armament for the Type 93 torpedoes known as the Long Lance. Late in the war she was converted into a carrier of kaiten manned torpedoes. This unusual career makes Kitakami one of the most interesting vessels of the Imperial Japanese Navy and a lasting favorite among modelers.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface and bend them with smooth-jawed tweezers, ideally in a bending tool. Bond them with super glue applied with a pin in minimal amounts. Degrease the parts before painting and use a thin coat of primer so that the paint holds on the metal.
This is an add-on set, not a complete ship model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue and paints are not included in the package.
