Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German 12.8 cm Sf.L/61 heavy self-propelled anti-tank gun, known as the Sturer Emil (Pz.Sf.V), in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The model has fine engraved detail with riveted joints, well-worked tools and the massive gun in an open superstructure; a large share of the parts are road wheels. The tracks are of the flexible (vinyl) type, and a decal sheet for two schemes is included.
The Sturer Emil was an experimental heavy self-propelled gun of the Second World War built on the lengthened chassis of the VK 30.01(H) prototype from Henschel. It carried a 12.8 cm L/61 gun in an open superstructure. Only two prototypes were built, and they were fielded on the Eastern Front, among other places in the Stalingrad area. The gun had a powerful effect against armored targets at long range.
Assemble the running gear and its many road wheels first, and close the hull only afterwards. The open superstructure invites detailing of the interior and the mount. Use liquid cement, a primer and an airbrush; dark washes into the rivets and the engraved lines and pigments for mud and dust effects will give the weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
