The box covers unpainted plastic parts for the weapon and the figures in a snap-fit version that can be assembled without glue. The set is meant to bring combat dioramas to life and to serve as fire support in tabletop war games.
Medium mortars of around 81 mm caliber were among the basic fire support of the infantry in the Second World War. They broke down into the barrel, the bipod and the baseplate, so the crew carried them in parts. An experienced squad could keep up a high rate of fire and hit targets several kilometers away.
Carefully separate the small parts and clean them up; the snap-fit joints hold even without glue, and a drop of thin cement can be used for strength. Spray the weapon and the figures with a base coat, then choose the tones of the uniforms and the metal. A dark wash will bring out the mechanism of the mortar and the folds of the gear; dust pigments on the baseplate will add realism to the scene.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
