A pre-cut masking set drawn for the Hobby2000 and Hasegawa kits in 1:72 scale. The Skyraider was a single-engine piston carrier-based ground-attack aircraft with a roomy cockpit whose framing is among the first things to catch the eye on a finished model.
The masks are intended for the outer side of the glazing. For 1:72 scale that is usually enough: the inside of the cockpit is only partly visible through the small windows and the color of the frames from inside can be added with a brush. The main benefit lies in the sharp edge on the outer side, where hand-cut tape would jump on a curve and leave a notch in the paint.
Wash the clear part in lukewarm water with detergent, rinse it and let it dry. Lift the shapes with tweezers, lay them on the frame and press them down with a blunt toothpick all around the perimeter. Lay the paint on in thin coats and let each one flash off. Take the mask off while the paint is freshly dry and pull it at an angle across the edge, not straight up. Wipe small traces of adhesive away with a cotton bud dampened in spirit; thinners do not belong on clear parts, as they dull them.
The box holds a masking set. The kit, paints and varnishes are not included, unless stated otherwise.
