A resin conversion set of the Czech brand Brengun in 1:72 scale. This is not a kit of the aircraft or a finished model, but a set of replacement and supplementary parts with which a plastic Skyhawk kit is modified to the A-4C version. The exact content of the package and the number of parts you will find on the box; it is sensible to check the compatibility with a particular model beforehand. The target kit is Airfix.
The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was a light single-seat carrier-based attack aircraft with a delta wing, designed deliberately as a small and light machine that managed without a wing folding mechanism on an aircraft carrier. The A-4C version followed on from the earlier production variants and brought a modified nose with added avionics, which broadened the possibilities of employment in worsened weather conditions. Skyhawks served with a number of users for several decades and went through many partial modifications, so there are noticeable external differences between the individual versions. It is precisely these that conversion sets address.
First wash the resin parts with lukewarm water and detergent, so that residue of mold release agent is removed, otherwise paint will not hold on them. Separate the casting blocks with a fine saw or a cutting disc, level the area with a file and finish by wet sanding with protection for your airways. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate; ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on it. Before gluing, do a dry fit, fill any gaps with filler and sand them over. A coat of primer unifies the resin with the plastic and reliably reveals small bubbles or score marks, which would otherwise show up under the paint only on the finished model.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
