This resin detail set from Aires brings faithful castings of ACES II ejection seats in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane model, but an accessory for experienced modelers that replaces the simplified plastic seats from the kit with crisply cast parts full of fine detail. Seats of this type were used in a range of American jet aircraft, among them the A-10, the F-15 and the F-117.
The ACES II (Advanced Concept Ejection Seat) is a modern American ejection seat that became standard equipment for a whole generation of combat aircraft. Thanks to its reliable design and a wide envelope of safe escape it spread across types from attack aircraft to fighters and strike machines. A faithfully rendered seat is one of the most visible elements of an open cockpit.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue. The seats come out once clear-coated and with the straps and handles brought out; try the fit dry before setting them into the cockpit.
The set is supplied as resin parts, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model, but an accessory to a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
