The real subject

The AGM-88 is an American antiradiation guided missile. Its task differs from that of an ordinary air-to-ground missile: it does not aim at a building or a vehicle but at the emissions of a hostile radar, so it is used where air defenses have to be silenced before the other machines enter the area. It is carried under the wing by a range of combat aircraft, among them machines intended precisely for the suppression of air defenses. In shape it is a slender body with cruciform surfaces at the front and at the rear, conspicuous above all for its length.

Building and painting tips

• the parts are not polystyrene, cement for plastic has no effect on them, so make the joint with super glue
• cut the excess material and the traces of production off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down
• wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly
• paint the stores separately and fit them onto the model only at the end
• try the seating on the pylon dry before you reach for the glue
