An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese Aichi M6A1 Seiran floatplane attack aircraft in 1:72 scale from Tamiya. The model captures an unusual machine with a pair of large floats and folding wings, designed to be carried inside the hull of a large submarine. Check the actual package contents and the decal options against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Aichi M6A1 Seiran was a Japanese attack aircraft of the end of the Second World War, meant to be launched from the giant I-400 class submarines. The wings and the tail surfaces folded so that the machine would fit into the watertight hangar on board the submarine; once the boat surfaced it was quickly assembled and launched by catapult. It was powered by a liquid-cooled Aichi Atsuta inverted V12 engine. Its targets were distant strategic objectives; because of the end of the war the aircraft practically never saw real combat.
Glue the parts with a thin plastic cement. Glue the cockpit glazing with a canopy adhesive so that it does not fog. You will stand the model on its floats, and a display base also suits it. Japanese naval machines wore a dark green upper surface and a light underside — after the gloss coat and the decals, bring out the panel lines with a wash and add light marks of use.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
