A set of masks in 1:72 scale for a model of the Alouette III helicopter. It saves work on the glazing, of which this machine has an exceptional amount.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Alouette III is a French light utility helicopter from the beginning of the 1960s with turboshaft power and a wheeled undercarriage. It served for liaison, observation, training, casualty evacuation and light armed tasks and spread literally all over the world, among other things thanks to license production in several countries. It is unmistakable chiefly by the front of its fuselage: the cabin is glazed right down to the floor and divided into a great many panes, so that the crew can see below themselves as well.
It is that glazing that makes the most work during the build. Cutting out so many frames from adhesive tape is long-winded and the result tends to be uneven, because a hand-cut edge can never be run exactly along the frame. A pre-shaped mask holds the shape of the pane and the frames stay the same width over the whole model after spraying. Whether the set covers only the glazing or other areas as well is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Wash the transparent parts first and let them dry completely; a mask does not hold on a greasy surface. Transfer the mask with tweezers, set it to the frame and press the edges down with a toothpick. It is always stuck on before spraying. Spray the interior shade first, then the base and finally the external finish, so that the frames do not show through from the inside. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried; later it comes off less easily and can pull the finish away with it.
Masks are supplied. The model of the helicopter, paints and decals are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
