1:72 American gunsights Mk.8 (6 pcs)

American Mk.8 gunsights 1:72, 6 pieces (Quickboost)

A resin detail set, not an airplane kit. This finely cast resin set holds six pieces of the American Mk.8 aircraft reflector gunsight in 1:72 scale. This type was used by fighters and attack aircraft of the US Navy in the Second World War, for example the F6F Hellcat, the F4U Corsair or the TBF Avenger, and it also appeared on the P-47 Thunderbolt fighter. The small castings have a faithful shape of a kind that is hard to create in plastic. The set is intended for more advanced modelers with resin experience.

What the set is for

The gunsight is a conspicuous element of the cockpit and a faithful rendering of it lifts the impression of an open cockpit markedly. Six pieces in the set will do for several models. Once painted and completed with a clear surface for the reflector glass, the castings look realistic and replace the simplified or missing parts of the base kit.

Tips for working it

• First wash the parts free of mold release residue in lukewarm soapy water
• Cut the casting blocks off carefully and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection
• Glue with cyanoacrylate glue; ordinary cement will not bond it
• Apply a primer before painting, as resin holds paint better once the surface is matted

Who the set is for

• For builders of American naval aircraft in 1:72 scale
• For more advanced modelers with resin experience
• For lovers of faithful cockpit equipment

This is a resin detail accessory, not a model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
