A simplified injection-molded plastic kit of the American fighter Bell P-39Q Airacobra in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The model belongs to the simplified Easy Assembly line with a lower part count and a simpler build - suitable for beginners and for a quick finish too. Check the actual package contents and the decal options against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Bell P-39 Airacobra was an atypical American fighter in its layout. Its Allison V-1710 engine was mounted in the middle of the fuselage behind the pilot and drove the propeller through a shaft running under the cockpit; an engine-mounted cannon firing through the propeller hub could therefore be carried. The aircraft also had tricycle nose gear, unusual at the time. The P-39Q version was among the most numerous and served in large numbers above all with the Soviet Air Force under Lend-Lease deliveries, where it earned a good reputation.
Even with a simplified kit it pays to clean the mold seams up first and to fit the parts dry. Glue with thin cement for plastic, and glue the cockpit glazing carefully with canopy glue. Apply primer before painting and use an airbrush; paint the cockpit interior before closing the fuselage. After the gloss varnish and the decals, pick out the panel lines with a wash and add fine wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
