This is an accessory set, not an aircraft kit. Its subject is the life raft and its stowage on the Bristol Beaufighter in the TF Mk.X version in 1:72 scale. The set makes most sense on a build where you want to show the stowage open, that is, a detail that is not visible on an ordinarily built model and is all the more striking for it. The set is developed for one particular kit of this type.
The Bristol Beaufighter was a British twin-engined machine with Bristol Hercules radial engines, which began as a heavy fighter and gradually became an all-round combat aircraft. The TF Mk.X version was the Coastal Command variant intended for attacks on surface targets and for long flights over the sea. On machines that spent most of their time over water, survival equipment including an inflatable raft was standard kit and had a space of its own reserved in the airframe.
The parts may be resin or plastic, so match the procedure to the material of the parts in the package. Wash resin castings in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a disc and level the surface with a file; sand wet and with respiratory protection. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), plastic with ordinary modeling cement. If you want to open the stowage up, cut the opening in the skin carefully and from the inside, so as not to damage the engraved detail around it. Spray the inside a darker color so that the space reads as deep, and keep the raft itself in a saturated color with a light wash. Once it is built in, check the space against the light to see whether anything shows through unglued edges.
This is an accessory set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
