The Bell AH-1G Cobra was the first production attack helicopter in United States service and a machine firmly bound up with the war in Vietnam. You will recognize it by its narrow fuselage with the crew seated in tandem, by the stub wings for carrying armament and by the skid landing gear. It is precisely because of the slender fuselage that the cockpit is clearly visible on it, so work on the interior pays off.
These are color three-dimensional Quinta interior elements for 1:72 scale. They are printed and printed in color at the same time, so the instrument panels, side consoles and other surfaces get raised relief and color in one go, without painting the individual dial faces with a brush. The elements are printed on a carrier decal paper from which they slide into place after a brief soak; decal softener is not used with them, as it would attack the printed resin.
First sand the surface the element will go onto smooth and remove the molded detail, paint it and go over it with gloss clear coat; the element has no adhesive layer of its own and holds precisely on the gloss. Separate the element with a sharp blade, leave it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the carrier paper into place. While it is wet, straighten the position, then press it down with a soft tool so that it follows the shape of the base; on a detailed part a drop of cyanoacrylate glue will help. Close the cockpit up only after everything around it has dried perfectly.
