Wash the figures in lukewarm water with detergent so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. They are best painted with a brush over a light primer: first the base tones, then a dark wash in the folds and finally a dry brush on the edges. Build the skin up in thin layers; in 1:72 scale it works better to suggest shadow and light than to paint details.
