Painting stencils for the canopy frames of a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 and G-14 in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The cockpit of the Bf 109 is among the most frequently built shapes in all of modeling and at the same time among those where outlining the frames by hand is noticed most easily. In 1:72 scale the frames are tenths of a millimeter wide and every hesitation decides the outcome. Shapes cut out of a sheet simplify this part of the build markedly.
The G version, which the crews called the Gustav, was the most numerous form of the whole type. An inverted V12 with direct fuel injection powered it. The G-6 sub-version received heavier machine guns whose breeches did not fit under the smooth engine cover and created conspicuous bulges above it. Later machines carried a new lightened canopy with a substantially smaller number of frames, which improved the pilot's view to the rear. Individual examples can be told apart on period photographs precisely by the form of the canopy, so it is a good idea to choose your subject before you start gluing the glazing on.
Spray the inner side of the canopy in the interior shade before you seat the part. The outer frames then only need laying on and going over with the camouflage. On the sliding part of the cockpit, do not forget that it will be visible from both sides once finished.
