This is not an aircraft model and not a kit, but external stores intended to complete an already built model in 1:72 scale. The package holds the parts for four bombs and a small decal sheet with technical stencils. Resin castings offer sharper detail and a more three-dimensional surface than injection-molded plastic can give, especially on the small features of the bomb casing and on the suspension lugs.
The BL755 was a British airborne cluster bomb taken into service at the beginning of the 1970s. It served as an anti-armor weapon that released a large number of smaller submunitions over the target. British combat aircraft carried it for several decades, and it stayed in service until 2008, when the United Kingdom withdrew it in connection with the international convention restricting cluster munitions. The type appeared on tactical aircraft intended for attacks on ground targets, which makes it a rewarding addition to models of British Cold War equipment.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife and never snap them off. Use respiratory protection when sanding, and ideally sand wet, because resin dust is an irritant. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); ordinary cement for polystyrene does not work here. Apply a primer before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly on smooth resin.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is intended to complete a separately sold model. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
