Pre-cut masking film for the glazing of the British Bristol Bombay bomber and transport aircraft in 1:72 scale. Made for the Valom kit, applied from outside.
Responsibility details are not available.
A high-set wing, fixed landing gear and a fuselage that brings to mind a bus rather than a combat aircraft. The type came about to a requirement for a machine able to fill two roles at once, that is, to carry troops and to drop bombs, and that is exactly how it was used. Production examples were built by the Belfast factory of Short and Harland, and their main theater became North Africa and the Middle East at the beginning of the 1940s. They carried supplies, moved the wounded and in an emergency bombed as well, their slowness being offset for the ground units by the ability to put down on an improvised strip.
The glazing of the Bombay is assembled from many flat panes, on which any asymmetry shows at once. The cut segments keep the width of the posts constant and save long measuring with a ruler.
With angular glazing what decides is the accurate seating of the first segment, because the others then line up on it naturally. Do not rush and check that the edge runs parallel with the edge of the pane. Apply the paint in thin coats; on large areas preferably in two passes from different directions. Start taking them off from the smallest panels. The kit and paints are not part of the delivery.
