The UM 1:72 BT-7A plastic kit captures the artillery variant of the Soviet BT-7 fast tank with a short-barreled 76.2 mm gun.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer UM, also known as Unimodel. Its models tend to be divided into small parts and contain even those features that large-series production simplifies; the build therefore calls for patience, tweezers and good light, but the reward is unusually fine detail on a small vehicle.
The BT-7A was the support variant of the Soviet BT-7 fast tank. Instead of the standard turret with a 45 mm gun it received a larger turret with a short-barreled 76.2 mm gun intended for firing at field fortifications and targets in the open. The wheel-and-track running gear was kept: the vehicle could run on tracks, or, once they were removed, on the rear road wheels, which gave it a high speed on a made-up road. Only a small series was produced and the vehicles were used at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s.
Finish the running gear and everything that is to be seen inside the hull before you close the hull up. Cut the small parts off with nippers and glue with a thin cement, which wicks into the seam and does not clog detail. Spray the model with primer before painting, so that the paint holds even on the edges. Apply the base shade with an airbrush, then bring the detail out with a dark wash into the recesses and with a lighter tone of dry brush on the edges. Finally work with pigments; with wheel-and-track running gear it looks good when the dusty wheels are set off in color from the muddy tracks and the bottom of the hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
