The 1:72 C-46 Commando masking set in the EXPERT grade from New Ware is the widest variant of masks for this twin-engine transport aircraft, an accessory for builders who want more than the glazing covered.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for a kit in 1:72 scale, not a model. It is a strip of carrier tape with pre-cut masks that are laid onto the parts of the model before painting. New Ware supplies masks in three grades of extent, and the word EXPERT in the name denotes the most comprehensive one.
The grade is not a measure of difficulty but of the extent of the set. BASIC covers the basics, above all the glazing from the outside. ADVANCED adds further elements, typically the inner side of the glazing and the wheels. EXPERT is the widest variant, which also thinks of the additional areas and details that would otherwise have to be taped by hand. On a large twin-engine transport that shows most, because there would be a lot of hand work on a model of this size.
Work in groups and do not stick everything on at once. First fit the masks on the glazing, spray the primer and the color of the interior frames, and only then deal with the external camouflage. The carrier tape is thin and pliable and can be shaped slightly on curved surfaces with finger pressure, but not stretched. On large-area transport schemes with aluminum shades, make sure the edge of the mask really lies flat, as metallic paints creep under more easily than matte ones. Keep the rest of the sheet; the surrounding area left after cutting is usable as ordinary masking tape.
This is an accessory, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
