A plastic kit of the legendary twin-engined Douglas C-47A Skytrain transport aircraft in the Polish version, the Dakota, in 1:72 scale from the maker IBG Models. The boxing builds on the injection-molded plastic parts from Hobby Boss, completes them with photo-etched parts and brings entirely new decals with a rich choice of schemes for machines in Polish service. This is an injection-molded plastic model to be glued and painted.
The C-47 was the military version of the famous Douglas DC-3 airliner. In British and Polish service the name Dakota took hold for it. In the Second World War it became indispensable — it carried troops and materiel, towed gliders and dropped paratroopers. Thanks to its reliability and undemanding nature it served with a number of air forces long after 1945 as well, among them in Poland. Characteristic are the rounded fuselage, the pair of radial engines and the large cargo door on the left side, through which materiel was loaded and paratroopers dispatched.
It pays to mask the large glazing of the pilot's cabin before spraying. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. A natural metal finish stands out best with metallic paints over a smooth, well-polished base; add the color schemes and insignia with the enclosed decals. A fine wash will bring out the panel lines. The large areas of the wings and the fuselage reward patient polishing of the joints; do not forget to darken the anti-glare panels in front of the cabin.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
