A base 280 x 180 mm in size came about by printing an acrylic sheet 3 mm thick. It weighs 170 g, so it can be handled with one hand even with hardware standing on top. This range of boards comes from the Ukrainian firm Kelik.
The red and white sheet with an eleven-pointed maple leaf in the middle has been in force in Canada only since February 1965; before that the country used a banner with a British canton. For modelers that means a useful guide: under machines from the time of the Second World War a themed base is more fitting, whereas this one goes with postwar and present-day equipment.
In 1:72 scale a fighter the size of the CF-18 Hornet or the CF-104 Starfighter will fit comfortably on it, as will the CT-114 Tutor trainer and a helicopter of the medium category. A free margin is left on which a plate with the unit designation can be laid. Let the graphics stand out freely and do not cover them with loose materials, otherwise nothing legible will be left of the motif. The maple leaf is also so well known that the allegiance of the machine will be recognized even by a visitor who has never taken up modeling.
The package holds only the printed acrylic, without any further parts.
