The CASA C-295M in 1:72 scale

A kit of the tactical transport aircraft CASA C-295M in 1:72 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; to finish it you need glue, paints and basic modeling tools.

The real subject

The C-295 is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft of Spanish origin, intended for carrying cargo and people over short and medium distances. It arose by lengthening and strengthening an older type of the same family, so that with modest demands on the runway it carries substantially more. At the rear it has a cargo ramp, thanks to which hardware can be loaded and material dropped in flight, and it is also used for transporting the wounded. The version with the letter M serves in a number of European armed forces including the Czech Air Force, so the model offers a domestic finish as well.

What the kit contains

The parts of the aircraft in 1:72 scale to be assembled. The number of parts, the extent of the decal sheet and the marking options offered are given by the manufacturer in the instructions.

Building and painting tips

• Check the high-set wing and the slim fuselage against each other while gluing, so that the model does not stand twisted.
• Mask the cockpit and the fuselage windows before you start spraying the top color.
• Leave the landing gear legs until the end of the build and rest the model on a support until then.
• Wash and degrease the parts before painting and apply the base in a thin layer.
• Apply the decals onto a gloss surface; on a matte one a white haze appears under them.
• Keep the weathering restrained, as transport aircraft in active service tend to be well maintained.
