A plastic kit of the British Challenger II main battle tank in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The modern British tank in its standard army configuration.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter represents the British Challenger II main battle tank in the standard configuration of the British Army. The kit has several sprues of plastic parts, a decal sheet and flexible (vinyl) tracks, so assembling the running gear is quick. This release captures the tank in its ordinary army configuration without add-on combat armor; the desert combat version comes in a separate Iraq War release.
The Challenger II is the main battle tank of the British Army, which replaced the older Chieftain and entered service at the turn of the millennium. It is armed with a 120 mm rifled gun and protected by Chobham type composite armor. It is among the well-armored Western tanks and has proved itself in a number of deployments.
Assemble and paint the lower hull and the running gear before you fit the vinyl tracks and the upper hull. Dry-fit the vinyl tracks before you put them on, and roughen them if need be for better adhesion. Apply a primer, then the base shade: usually a uniform green or a two-color European scheme for the British Army. Draw the engraving out with a wash into the panels, pick out the edges with a dry brush and finish the underside and the running gear with dust and mud pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
