Photo-etched detail set 1:72 for the British Churchill Mk.III and Mk.IV infantry tank from the maker Armory adds metal parts in a correct scale thickness to a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a kit of a tank, but an add-on set of photo-etched sheet metal for a model in 1:72 scale. In a small scale the plastic fenders, meshes, holders and brackets are necessarily overscale, because otherwise they could not be molded. Metal parts replace them with a thickness that corresponds to reality, and the finished model gains markedly by it. The maker is Armory, a brand known for accessories for aircraft and ground vehicles alike.
The Churchill was a British infantry tank of the Second World War, characterized in design by a long hull with the tracks led around the whole outline of the vehicle and by a large number of small road wheels. The Mk.III version was given a welded turret with a 6-pounder gun; on the Mk.IV version a cast turret was produced. The vehicle was slow but durable and coped well with steep terrain, which made it the basis for a whole series of special engineering conversions.
In 1:72 scale the photo-etched parts are tiny, so work with fine-tipped tweezers and on a light surface, so that a part does not disappear on you. Cut with a scalpel and make the bends in a bender or between two blades. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue in minute doses, ideally transferred on the tip of a piece of wire. Degrease the metal and lay down a primer. British vehicles of this period are usually painted in a matte dark green, which is brought to life well by a wash into the recesses, wear on the edges and dust on the running gear.
The set is an accessory, not a kit – the model of the tank, glue and paints are not included in the package. Check the match with your own kit before buying.
