The Tiger I was a German heavy tank introduced in 1942, armed with an 88 mm gun derived from an anti-aircraft gun. It stood out for its thick armor and effective fire at long range, but it was heavy, expensive and demanding to maintain. The T-34/85 came into being as an answer to the new German tanks: the proven Soviet medium tank received a larger three-man turret with an 85 mm gun. It is precisely this pair that met on the Eastern Front in the closing stages of the war, and in one package they make a logical comparison.
On both models, assemble the running gear before you close the hull and fit the fenders. Paint the track links and the rollers separately, and you will save yourself laborious wiping out. The German and the Soviet machine deserve different treatments of the surface: on the Tiger the Zimmerit paste coating and dust shades are rewarding, on the T-34/85 the coarser cast texture of the turret and finish rubbed through on the edges. A dark wash will bring out the division of the hull, and pigments on the running gear will then set both models into their surroundings.
The models are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
