Masking set 1:72 Convair XFY-1 Pogo from the manufacturer Peewit is an accessory for covering the glazing of a model during spraying. It is not a kit of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set in 1:72 scale for the experimental Convair XFY-1 Pogo aircraft. It holds pre-cut masking shapes for the glazing, which are stuck on before spraying and taken off once the painting is done. It is an accessory for building, not a model of the aircraft.
The XFY-1 Pogo was an experimental machine of the mid-1950s, which took off and landed vertically and stood at rest on its tail. A turboprop engine with a pair of contra-rotating propellers provided the power and the aircraft rested on four small wheels at the tips of its cruciform tail. Only prototypes were built and the type did not enter service. For the modeler that means two peculiarities. The cockpit is fairly small and sits on a slender fuselage, so a mask is tiny and has to fit exactly. And because the model is usually displayed in a vertical position, the edge of the cockpit frames is visible from immediately close up and when seen from above, where nothing is hidden.
Degrease the glazing, transfer the mask with tweezers and press it down. Smooth the edge with a blunt tip. Spray the color of the frames first, then the primer and the top shade last. Take the mask off shortly after it has dried. On a model displayed vertically it is advisable to check the edge from above and from behind as well, that is from the angles at which an ordinary aircraft model is not viewed.
This is an accessory for building. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the package. Check the match with your kit beforehand.
