Metal machine gun barrels in the British form and a British type pitot tube for a model of the Curtiss P-40B or P-40C Tomahawk II in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
At the beginning of the Second World War the Curtiss P-40 was among the most widely used American fighters. The early P-40B and P-40C versions were also taken over by the Royal Air Force under the designation Tomahawk II and deployed above all over North Africa. The British machines differed from the American ones in their armament and in small items of airframe equipment, among them the form of the pitot tube.
The set brings metal barrels for the wing machine guns in the British .303 caliber, that is 7.7 mm, and a British type pitot tube. Metal holds its shape even with a very thin wall, so the muzzle of the barrel can really be drilled out and the tube stays straight and slender. In 1:72 scale it is exactly these small things that catch the eye at once on a finished model.
Cut the plastic parts off the model and carefully drill out the remaining stub to the diameter of the pin on the metal part. Dry-fit until the part seats without pressure. Metal parts cannot be glued with polystyrene cement; cyanoacrylate glue or two-part epoxy will hold them. Before painting, wash and degrease the metal; if you want to keep the metal look, a dark shade and gentle polishing are enough, otherwise use a primer for metal.
Replacing small parts with metal is one of the easiest ways to take a model in a small scale further, and even a modeler with no experience of photo-etch can manage it. Careful drilling and a steady hand while seating the part are all it takes.
The aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
